In today’s funny pages of the AA NEWS, the cartoon “Speed Bump” by Dave Coverly (an EMU grad, I believe) contains a character wearing a green EMU sweatshirt. Don’t know if you can find this online or not, but it’s a funny comic, in my opinion.

Yes, David Coverly is a graduate of EMU and every once in a while sneaks in “EMU.” He used to draw the editorial cartoons for the “Eastern Echo” in the early to mid 1980s!
That cartoon was actually about me. I purchased the opportunity to appear in a Speedbump acrtoon at a fundraiser for a local school. The cartoon contains little aspects of my life – that I work at EMU, that I play hockey and cycle, and that I am a big fan of the Calgary Flames (note the framed Flames logo on the mantle). According to Dave Coverly, the caption of the cartton is a subtle play on words of my name – it could have read, “Bob becomes a victim of his Winning ways.” If you want to see the cartoon, it’s available online at http://www.comics.com/creators/speedbump/archive/speedbump-20070916.html
