Let me know how “history” turns out

Ward Mullens sent an email around this morning about the inauguration ceremony for Susan Martin:

You can participate in EMU history by attending the inauguration ceremony of Dr. Susan Martin at 11 a.m. today at Pease Auditorium. Dr. Martin will be invested as the 22nd president of Eastern Michigan University. She is the first female president in EMU’s 159-year history. There will be a campus reception and celebration at the Student Center Ballroom immediately following the ceremony.

During the history-making, I’ll probably be waiting for the furnace guy to show up at my house (just a check-up, no big deal). But I’m sure there will be EMUTalk-types there; let’s hear your impressions!

  1. Here’s a link to an AANews story about it. I wonder how long it will be before the press stops from mentioning Fallon every time EMU comes up?

  2. The ceremony was great.

  3. I agree with Alum — who i was delighted to see at the reception! — the ceremony was great, and the reception too. Dr. Martin’s speech was terrific, and it was a real pleasure to see so many EMU community members together, focusing on the positive.
