		<description>One of the things that most impressed me about Jack Kay when I heard him speak last month was his ability to make the provost office &quot;work&quot; in the  sense of communicating and being responsive to all the work - a huge amount of paper and information - that goes through any university&#039;s provost office. I  think we shall soon see a real improvement in the performance of the Provost&#039;s office.  For too long, the provost&#039;s office at EMU has been &#039;the place good ideas go to die.&#039;

I commend Dr. Martin for this choice, and congratulate Dr. Kay on being selected as Provost. And many thanks too to everyone who helped with this search.</description>
