Because Donna asked over a week ago, I thought I’d pass along here a couple of links from stevendkrause.com where I blogged about the iPad:
- The iPad, the first 30 or so hours
- Anybody who says that the iPad is the end of user-generated content or the internet does not know what they are talking about, which is mostly a response to the computer geek critique of what the iPad lacks and/or that it’s bad because it’s a closed system. You can probably tell from the headline that I disagree with this techno-geek perspective.
- iPad “killer apps” for Academics (maybe), which is too long of a post where I talk about what I see as the two most useful applications for my work (at least so far), which is iAnnotate and the tremendous possibilities and potential of the way books look on this.
I’m not so sure that the iPad is a “must have” for everyone and I don’t think I would require students to show up to campus with one– at least not quite yet. But the potential is huge and right now, it’s a heck of a lot of fun.

Don’t give students iPads… instead the iPad can become a tool to use to lure students to your classroom instead of signing up for online coursework…cause if they want to see how cool the iPad is they have to go to your class!
This is an interesting article in Inside Higher Ed on questions about the iPad:

Thanks for the insight sidedad!
