Say, you hear about that Pray-Harrold construction?

I don’t mean to be too snarky, but AnnArbor.com’s “As Pray-Harrold work begins, Eastern Michigan University professors settle into temporary digs” isn’t exactly breaking news, though it does include a decent enough picture and a few quotes from some of my colleagues.

I haven’t swung by Pray-Harrold in a couple of weeks; is there any sign yet of construction?

  1. Who won the PH renovation schedule contest?

  2. Well, MathGeek, for lack of a better way of putting it, no one “won” because a) there weren’t enough entries to justify a real contest, b) there was not enough ad revenue on the site to justify a real prize (which is why I took the ads off, though it would still be very cheap for someone to “Imagine their ad here!”), and c) no one was really close.

Actually, looking over that stuff again, it’s interesting to me the extent to which this work is being done and (probably) completed earlier than anticipated. Even some of the official releases I found on the site here was projecting a December 2012 finish. The plan now is to finish in August 2011.

I’m not sure it’s worth it to have a “how late will they be” pool quite yet since the contractors and such are still pretty adamant about being done in August. Maybe as we get closer to March or so, we can start taking bets….
