CloseUP Classroom Fall 2010 show for new & Ol’ Faculty

In non-strike news:  the C2 (CloseUP Classroom) is presenting its Fall 2010 Show for New and Ol’ Faculty on Thursday, September 2, 1 pm and 2:30 PM in Alexander Hall. This group, which is run by CTA professor Jessica “Decky” Alexander, does great stuff in depicting all sorts of college experiences with short acting sketches.  Check it out.

Of course, this is not completely “non-strike news” because when/if we are still on strike September 2, then I suspect this show will have to be postponed.  Along with lots of other stuff that faculty are involved in before classes begin.

I suppose that EMU AAUP may have to make some sort of ruling about this, but the actors in C2–both students and faculty–are supported by an external grant. If the show is cancelled, they will not be paid, and the grant supporting the performances may be placed in serious jeopardy for the future. I would be surprised is AAUP determined that the show should not go on.

  2. And I should say I just got off the phone with someone who should know that this is the sort of thing that the union does indeed support, so it will probably be “a go,” strike or no strike.
