The man is digging himself deeper, and refusing to admit that his words were offensive to many. He meant no offense, but he was offensive. He seems too proud to apologize, too proud to see his words were harmful.
Pride goeth before a fall: that was one of the lessons my single mother taught me.
The coach has shown nothing but defensiveness about this whole affair, thus dragging it out. Shameful way to represent a university.
